Dear friends of the CIOC:
The past few days have been difficult for all of us as we come to grips with our present circumstances. At the same time, it has been an inspiration to see how entire communities have come together to support one another through such unprecedented events.
It is with sadness and regret, but also optimism for the future, that we must announce the cancellation of all of our public concerts and activities through the end of May. This includes all of the dates on our end-of-March East-Coast Tour with Alcée Chriss and Thomas Leslie, our Organ and Choir Concert at the Grande loge du Québec, and our Grand Organ Festival Gala Weekend at the beginning of May. If you have already purchased tickets to one of these concerts, you will receive an email shortly with further instructions.
We are closely monitoring the situation, along with all guidelines from the provincial and federal governments. As of this moment, we expect that all activities related to the 5th edition of the Canadian International Organ Competition this October will continue as planned, with an announcement of the selected candidates before summer. We look forward to celebrating the achievements, hard work, and artistry of all the talented organists who applied.
The artistic community has been greatly impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, with public events cancelled all over the world. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to determine the best path forward for the remainder of the year, and we welcome your support.
