The 2024 Canadian International Organ Competition
The 6th edition of the Canadian International Organ Competition took place from October 17th to 27th, 2024. The CIOC welcomed 9 talented young organists from 6 different countries to Montreal as they competed on some of Canada’s finest organs for the chance to win prizes totalling more than $100,000 CAD. The competitors were judged by a jury composed of some of the most eminent, internationally-renowned figures in the music scene. The prizewinners were:
- Johannes Skoog (1st Prize, Noël Spinelli Prize, Gérard Coulomb Bach Prize)
- Henry Webb (2nd Prize, Richard Bradshaw Audience Prize, Raymond Daveluy Prize presented by the RCCO)
- Alma Bettencourt (3rd Prize, Gaston Litaize Prize)
- Mélodie Michel (Artistic-Development Prize)
Coinciding with the 2024 competition was the annual Grand Organ Festival, a month-long celebration of music brimming with exceptional programming for all ages and interests, including concerts by renowned organist Olivier Latry, Bernard Foccroulle, Isabelle Demers, and others; educational workshops, tours, and masterclasses; and our Gala Concert featuring the top three CIOC prizewinners.
