Abraham Ross performs regularly as a soloist and ensemble player on harpsichord, organ, and fortepiano. His recent collaborations include projects with Apollo’s Fire, the Blue Hill Bach Festival, and First Congregational church of Los Angeles, which demonstrate his passion for exchange with other artists of various backgrounds. He received diplomas from College of the Holy Cross (magna cum laude) and Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and currently studies in the class of Isabelle Demers at McGill University.
Abe draws inspiration from the rich repertory written for the organ and the abundance of instruments required to play it. He takes special interest in dialogue with other artists, examining the philosophies and societies of the past and today alike. Abe’s first musical studies took place in his hometown of Bangor, Maine on an organ built by E & G. G. Hook in 1860. This experience inspired him to take up the organ as a career, and he now specializes in American romantic repertory. He serves on the board of St. John’s Organ Society, an organization dedicated to the preservation of that same instrument.
