The First Movement of the Immovable

This concert by Duo AIRS (percussion and saxophone) and organist Adrian Foster, in collaboation with the CIOC, evokes the life and work of the famous Italian composer and poet Giacinto Scelsi.

Inspired by the documentary by Franco-Italian filmmaker Sebastiano d’Ayala Valva, this concert evokes the life and work of Giacinto Scelsi, composer and poet born in Italy at the beginning of the last century, who devoted his work to the exploration of sound , often monodic. All his life, Scelsi wanted to release the energy of sound, according to him “creative force of the universe”, by playing in particular on micro-tones and vibrations. Works by Luciano Berio, Pierre Béluse, Alvin Lucier and Christina Volpini will complete this hypnotic program, close to a state of trance.
